Quality standards for E-reserve
- Where the original source (book/journal) is not held by the library, a personal copy of the original, or a photocopy should be supplied meeting the following minimum standards:
- A4-sized, with a single page per A4-sheet.
- Single-sided (not printed on both sides of the page).
- Not printed on recycled paper.
- Minimal grey/black margins.
- Ensure that text and page numbers have not been cut off the edge of the page, or obscured by the binding.
- Clean and straight on the page. Clear and legible (no underlining, highlighting, or scribbled comments)
- Extracts should preferably be less than 30 pages in length – extracts exceeding this length may need to be split into two separate files.
- If the original is in colour, the photocopy should also be in colour where possible (esp. important for images, maps, diagrams). The Library will normally scan in colour if a colour photocopy is supplied.

Items not eligible for E-reserve
- Lecture notes and class notes are not eligible for E-reserve; these can be made available via Blackboard.
- Generally material that is free on the internet will not be included on E-reserve.
- Copies of articles/extracts obtained through inter-library loan for personal use cannot be placed on e-reserve. Where possible, the extract will be scanned directly from the source or linked from a Library database to the catalogue.
- For copyright reasons, printouts
from the Library's electronic journals are not acceptable for scanning.
Where possible the Library will link directly to articles within electronic
journals.
