Description of the Law Library Collection

The Reference collection, primary materials (e.g. statutes and law reports) and journals are normally for use in the Library only. Textbooks are normally available for loan, except looseleaf services.

All Law Library call numbers start with the letter "K"; and generally the sequence runs from the 7th floor up to the 9th floor.

General reference resources

The Reference collection includes dictionaries, bibliographies, directories and research and writing guides. Indexes to statutes and law reports are shelved at the end of the material they index.

Databases

Journals

Journals, filed alphabetically by title, are at K/211, on the 7th floor, except journals on international law (at KC/2). Older runs of many titles are held in Storage, as noted in the Library Catalogue; ask at the Desk about access. The Library is also able to provide access to a number of electronic journals that are held in print form; new electronic titles are added regularly.

Theses

Honours dissertations and higher degree theses are held in a closed stack. Theses may not be removed from the library, but they may be consulted within the library on presentation of a staff or student identification or library card.
