EndNoteOn this pageRelated informationWhat is EndNoteEndNote is software used to manage bibliographic citations. It can be used to organise references, cite them in papers, and automatically generate bibliographies - in the citation style of your choice. Ways to use EndNoteThere are three ways to use EndNote with University of Otago Library databases:
Connection FilesConnection files enable the searching of databases using EndNote's search interface. This saves learning different search interfaces for different databases and cuts out the step of saving references to a text file, then importing them into EndNote - the references are imported direct from the database. However, as the EndNote search interface is not as powerful as most database interfaces, direct exporting or import filters are preferable options. Import FiltersImport filters facilitate importing references into EndNote from a text file. References are saved from within a database as a text file, then imported into EndNote. This provides the advantage over the connection files of utilising the specific features of each database as opposed to being limited by EndNote's search interface.
