Housed in the Information Services Building (ISB) the Central Library provides 2000+ study spaces, facilities for users with disabilities, 20 group study rooms, computers for student use, and Wi-Fi. Subjects include arts and humanities, commerce, physical education, social sciences and theology. The Central Library houses over 300,000 books on levels one and two, and a significant print journal collection of over 46,000 volumes on level one. Other non-book collections, plus microforms, equate to nearly 200,000 items.

Te Aka a Tāwhaki, the Māori Resources Collection, on the ground floor, is a collection of core resources pertaining to Te Ao Māori.

The Special Collections, on the first floor, consist of about 9,000 books printed before 1801. Other special collections are the Brasch Collection, the post-1800 stack collection, the Mellor Collection and art works including a collection of Piranesi etchings and a major McCahon mural.

Commerce & Humanties Liaison staff, with the co-operation of teaching departments, hold subject bibliography classes during the year with the aim of assisting students in the use of library resources. Further information and copies of subject guides are available from the Lending and 'i'. Facilities for Photocopying, reading microforms and inter-library loan services are available. Other services include access to electronic databases and online searching.
