Help a page of useful information will appear that
relates to the Full Record.
Basic Search - Keywords anywhere
- Use quotation marks for phrases, eg. "world
wide web"
- Find items using all these keywords, eg. fish production farming
- Use ? to truncate words, eg. child?
- Use ! to exclude words, eg. animals !pets
Basic Search - Title begins with...
- Omit articles (a, nga, the etc.) at the begining of a title,
eg. wind in the willows
Basic Search - Author
- Enter author's last name then either first initial or first
name, eg. Shakespeare w
- For organisations, enter the first word of the name or the acronym,
eg. UNESCO
Spelling
- The Catalogue searches for records with the exact spelling of
the search term(s). For example, organize and
organise will retrieve different search results.
Case Sensitivity
- Search terms are not case sensitive
- Login is case sensitive
Navigation
- Use browser buttons to move forward and back, and print from
the Catalogue
- Underlined words and buttons are live links
Time-out
- The Catalogue is set to time-out after several minutes. Wait
to be redirected or restart the catalogue by clicking
Catalogue Homepage.
- When the Catalogue times-out it automatically logs out and all
previous unsaved searches will be lost.
Limiting searches
- Use Quick Limits and/or More Limits
- Once set, limits will remain until they are cleared
